Do "[Device] left behind" notifications trigger Find my iPad/iPhone alerts when clicked?

Hi, I had a random Find my iPad alert go off while I was home and I'm not sure what triggered it nor can I find any answers online that match my situation or anywhere to check who or what sent it. I had just gotten back from driving and I had gotten a "[iPad] has been left behind" notification on my phone during the car ride. I sat down to eat dinner then the alert went off, and now the notification on my phone is no longer there. Does clicking those device left behind notifications trigger those alerts? I've already changed my apple id password and hit sign out everywhere to be safe but I just want to know if it was just a false alarm or not.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro and an iPad Pro if the models matter.

Hello xc3m3t3rydr1v3x,

Thanks for your post to Apple Support Communities. We'll do our best to provide some guidance about the Left Behind feature using Find My on your Apple devices. We want to clarify some details about the incident so we properly understand what happened.

While you were driving, you received a "iPad has been left behind" notification on your iPhone. You might have tapped on that alert and no longer see it. Is that correct?

First, if your iPad wasn't with you in the vehicle, but the notice was enabled, it would show that alert on your other Apple device. If you weren't aware you had this set, or want to make adjustments to the setting, here are helpful steps about this feature:

Set up and use Notify When Left Behind in the Find My app - Apple Support

If the alert went off unexpectedly, because your iPad was with you, you may need to make adjustments in Settings and indicate locations you don't want to be notified from.

Add locations where you don't want to be notified
1. On your iPhone, open the Find My app.
2. Tap Devices or Items.
3. Tap a device.
4. Under Notifications, tap Notify When Left Behind.

From here you can:
- See your Home as a location where you won't be notified.
- Tap New Location to add locations where you don't want to be notified when something's left there.
- Tap the delete button  next to a location where you want to be notified when something's left there.

We look forward to hearing back from you, and working through this issue together.

Take care.
