My iPhone 12 and Apple Watch 8 will not pair. It goes through the setup process then unpairs and starts back over. What can I do to get the watch paired?

Is your iPhone updated to iOS 16 or higher (current version is 16.0.3)? For an Apple Watch Series 8 which came with WatchOS 9, it can only pair to an iPhone running iOS 16 or higher.
