Mac Mail headings loaded but content not showing

When looking at Mac Mail messages for certain time periods, the first part of the message shows in the window with the list of messages, but when you select the message, the message detail, including the first sentence or two shown in the message list view, is empty. On another post, starting in Safe Boot was suggested, but this did to solve the problem. The Mac is a 2017 version currently running macOS 12.5.1. Any suggestions?

Hello ASB-TN,

It sounds like the Mail app isn't showing all the content when viewing emails, right? Does this happen all the time or is it an intermittent behavior? Does it happen with multiple accounts?

Other than the Mail app, do you have another app or have you checked the webmail interface on a browser to see if that will show the entire message? You can also check to make sure that the account isn't offline:

If a mailbox is offline in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

"In the Mail app  on your Mac, do one of the following:

  • Take all accounts online: Click the lightning bolt icon or choose Mailbox > Take All Accounts Online.
  • Take a specific account online (if you have more than one account): Click the lightning bolt icon next to the account’s mailbox, or choose Mailbox > Online Status > Take [account] Online."

Regards.

The current stable release of Monterey including bug fixes, is macOS 12.6 — I would start there.
