Apple product is connected to another Apple ID

I bought an open box AirPods Max at Best Buy and when I went home to set it up, it prompted me a message saying the the device was already connected to another’s Apple ID. How would I make it so that it’s only associated with my Apple ID?

It’s used and unusable by you.


Return to BB for a full refund or else a new product with it’s tamper-evident seals still intact.


A private seller might be genuinely ignorant of these “gotcha’s” but there NO EXCUSE for Best Buy doing it.
