Screenshot (Video) Not Working

System: Macbook Pro Early 2005, Monterey 12.2

Using the native Screenshot app, I capture photos with no problem. However, when trying to capture a piece of video the screen is greyed out except for the selection window as usual, but when I click Record (even if I have chosen the duration) it never finishes apparently. I am able to navigate around and click items, but no matter what I do, I cannot get rid of the greyed-out overlay, unless I restart. I have options set to save to desktop, but there is nothing new saved there.

Please advise. Thanks.

Oh!!! Thank you. I never look up there.

You're welcome

Then what are the timer options for?)

The only timer options I'm aware of are the delay times before a screen shot or screen recording starts.
