Do I need to unistall any apps to completely remove them from my mac? Will simply dragging them to the trash can remove everything from that app?

If I delete an app from my mac by simply moving the app to the trash can, will that effectively remove all files and data from that app including any malware? Or does the app need to be unistalled?

And, just to be clear, simply dragging something to the trash doesn't delete it. You also have to empty the trash.
