iMovie 10.3.1 crop frame not showing up?

Trying to edit Ken Burns effect -- it's cropping out the top and bottom of the image -- but the crop frames aren't showing up so I'm unable to make any adjustments to the framing. Help please!!

Hi,

Try deleting preferences. Open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences from the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if the Ken Burns feature works properly.

If no luck, try creating a new project and see if that cures the issue.
