Press any key boots up MacBook Pro

After shutting off my MacBook Pro, if I press any key it will boot up the MacBook. Is this very frustrating when I want to clean the keyboard or to check if the MacBook is in sleep mode or shutoff. If want to check if it's shutoff, I can't just press a key to see if it the screen will light up because it will boot up. I was not able to find any setting to disable this. Is this part of the design? My previous MacBook did not behave like this.

Disable Auto Boot.

Use this command in Terminal:

You are welcome.

Disabling Auto Boot:

Then you like you don't have an Intel-Based Mac, but rather a M1 or M2 Mac..

Two Other Terminal Commands to Try:

auto-boot true

sudo nvram auto-boot=false

"Press any key boots up MacBook Pro: Just 'auto-boot true' is not a valid command. I tried 'sudo nvram auto-boot=false', no success. I used the command 'sudo nvram -p' to see if the value changed. It did not update the value for 'AutoBoot'. When I tried it with the command 'sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00' previously, it did change the value for 'AutoBoot %00', but still didn't disable booting up by pressing a key."

Ask in the Developer Forums:

You might be able to create a Terminal code or even an application for this using Script Editor. Ask how to do this in the Developer Forums: Developer Forums - Apple Community. Reply back with a link to the post you've just created.

Just "auto-boot true" is not a valid command.

I tried "sudo nvram auto-boot=false", no success. I used the command "sudo nvram -p" to see if the value changed. It did not update the value for "AutoBoot".

When I tried it with the command "sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00" previously, it did change the value for "AutoBoot %00", but still didn't disable booting up by pressing a key.
