New Apple ID without losing everything

All my family are on the one Apple ID. My son wants his own apple ID however we don't want to loose all his photos, contacts and Apps. How do we set him up a new ID and keep them. Can you save the photos, contacts to the phone prior to setting up new ID.

If 13 years old or older.

Apple ID - create a new.

Apple ID – Create

If under 13 years old, a parent will need to set up Family Sharing to create an ID.

When changing to the new ID, make sure he turns off Find My Phone before signing out of the old ID. Once signed out and Find My Phone is off, then sign in with the new ID, then turn Find My Phone back on. There may be some data loss, but he can minimize it If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether he wants to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed. See Winston Churchill's response in the below discussion. Also set up Family Sharing between the IDs to keep access to his apps/purchases.
