Camera rotates photos after being taken

Many people have recently ran into this problem. Let me start by asking you not to tell me how to lock or unlock the orientation of the phone, I know how to do that. Most times when taking pictures of my paper work, they will be completely flipped or turned sideways in my photo library. My orientation is locked in portrait mode at all times. How can I stop my “photos in my library” from being saved in a randomized rotated state.

Device: iPhone 12 Pro

Version: 16.1.1

•Yes my phone is locked in portrait.

•No I have not yet tried to take photos without the orientation locked.

If the orientation lock is the problem it shouldn’t be. This problem should get resolved via update and not ignored for the years to come. Many users are complaining about this problem but they can’t explain it to Apple support.

Hello MrLexLuger,

We'd like to learn more to see how we can help. Are you snapping the photos that are affected by this in portrait or landscape orientation? If you turn off Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Center on your iPhone, then snap a photo, does the issue persist? We ask because it's possible that Portrait Orientation Lock could be affecting the orientation of any photos you take in landscape mode.

Also, which iPhone do you have and which iOS version is listed in Settings > General > About, next to Software Version?

Next, are you able to edit the orientation of the photo afterwards and save it correctly? Learn more here about how to do that here: Take and edit photos on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Send over these details, and we'll take a closer look from there.

Thanks!
