Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, click here, and then on the download link for a newer OS. Any computer running 10.12 can be upgraded to 10.13; 10.14 requires a MacBook Pro to be a 2012 or newer model.

Sierra is 10.12, and 10.14 is Mojave.
