Macbook keyboard types wrong letters, numbers, symbols

Suddenly my MacBook Pro, running Ventura 13.0.1 started selectively responding with different letters/numbers/symbols than were typed. Eg physically type "a" and "q" appears on screen, press "m" and a comma appears. Not all keys are affected, but all numbers are - need to press shift plus number to bring up the number onscreen. I've tried the suggested fix of simultaneously pressing command, option R and P without success. Any suggestions?

Hello goodybum,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Let's review your input sources:

"Change Input Sources settings on Mac

On your Mac, use the Input Sources window in Keyboard settings to add input sources that allow you to type in other languages, and change options for specific sources. When you use an input source, you can type in any language that uses the same script or alphabet. Learn how to use input sources.

To open this pane, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Keyboard  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) In the Text Input section on the right, click Edit."

If the issue persist, let's test in another user account to see if the same thing happens.

Cheers!
