Pages

Whatever instructions are on the internet or in Apple, Macbook Pro 2021 cannot make Pages open with a blank template even when set correctly in Settings. Just a button at the bottom of the screen with word New Document. Want to open Pages, and have blank template to be there automatically and ready to type. This has been the problem since Monterey and continues with Ventura.

If you are getting a file chooser on Pages launch, then you have selected the Pages item in one of the following. Deselecting Pages as shown below, will restore a default blank template, or the Template chooser based on your Pages application Preferences/Settings.

Monterey & earlier:

System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud Drive [ Options… ] > [ ] Pages

Ventura:

Settings > Your Name/Apple ID > iCloud Drive [On] > Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive [ Options… ] > [ ] Pages
