LG Monitor not working

I'm having an issue with one of the mac computers that I have. I have a Macbook Pro 13" M1 2020 (personal) and a Macbook Pro 13" i7 Intel 2020 (work)

I recently bought an LG 34" ultrawide monitor https://www.lg.com/za/monitors/lg-34wn650-w The thing is that the monitor works well with the Mac M1 and everything looks good, but when I try to connect the Mac i7 Intel the monitor says "no signal" and goes into energy saving mode.

I am connecting the laptops (one at a time) to the monitor with a dock station https://plugable.com/products/ud-3900z  and the HDMI cable that the monitor brought

In past occasions I have connected the M1 to other Monitors with the same dock station and never had an issue, and when I go to the office I connect two monitors to the Mac i7 directly to the ports (no docking station involved) and both monitors work like a charm.

I would like to know why the LG monitor is not working with the Mac i7, I tried it while the Mac i7 had Monterrey and it didn't work, then I updated it to Ventura and it still didn't work.

Hello Rawull,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

Your work Mac can support these external monitors:

  • One external 6K display with 6016-by-3384 resolution at 60Hz at over a billion colors, or
  • One external 5K display with 5120-by-2880 resolution at 60Hz at over a billion colors, or
  • Up to two external 4K displays with 4096-by-2304 resolution at 60Hz at millions of colors
  • Thunderbolt 3 digital video output
  • Native DisplayPort output over USB‑C
  • VGA, HDMI, DVI, and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately)

You can find the full specs here: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) - Technical Specifications

If the monitor you’re using meets these specs, and is not working, the next thing to try would be to connect the monitor directly to the Mac instead of the docking station. Does the monitor work without the docking station? If it does, this tells us that there is something happening with the docking station preventing the computer from connecting to the monitor.

We also recommend reviewing all the information found here to ensure the correct connections are being use and to find steps to follow when your computer does not recognize the monitor: Use one or more external displays with your Mac - Apple Support

Kindest regards.
