Game Center - Nearby multiplayer is greyed out

Game Center - Nearby mulitiplayer is greyed out and I can’t change it. These people are signed into my school/work account and I can’t use it. I don’t play games and want them out of my accounts and off my iPhone.

Hello IllegalSSL7research,

Since you do not use Game Center, we would suggest signing out. This should remove any reference to others within that app.

  1. On your iPhone, tap on Settings.
  2. Scroll to Game Center and tap on it.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Sign out.

This should remove any reference to others from this app.

Additional information on Game Center settings is available here: Use Game Center to play with friends - Apple Support

Have a good day.

Thanks, hope that’s all it takes.

Is there a way to tell who this people are? I signed on to find a player called ***. I changed the avatar photo and signed out. Maybe a stupid thing to do?

I want to catch who it is. This is the second one but I don’t have the time right now.

Thanks Again

IllegalSSL7research,

This also may be due to built-in multiplayer functionality of Game Center. If you're seeing other users at your school and it has an open network that is shared, other players near you would see your avatar and nickname and vice versa. To specifically disable that via Settings > Game Center, then tapping to turn off Nearby Players.

See more info from the Game Center Legal page here: Legal - Data & Privacy - Apple

"When you play a game that supports multiplayer functionality, other Game Center users who are accessing the same game on the same Wi-Fi network or local area network, or are within range of Bluetooth will be able to see that you are nearby and see your nickname and avatar. You can disable this feature on your iOS or iPadOS device by going to Settings > Game Center, then tapping to turn off Nearby Players. On Mac, go to System Settings > Game Center, and click to turn off “Nearby players.” On tvOS, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > [user name] > Game Center, then turn off Nearby Players."

Take care.

I’ve never played games or signed up. I don’t use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth but they always get turned on. Each day I have to factory reset to use my device. I did go through all the settings as you said except tvOS I haven’t seen.

We have been hacked for years. Our neighbor has spyware. It’s in the Boot and upper memory that changes my bios, and takes over each new device.

I am getting closer to figuring that out and getting our id back.

Appreciate the help.
