My ipad ALWAYS forgets my fingerprint in a day or two. Fingerprint works fine right after I register it. Then it gradually stops working and within 48 hours it no longer works at all. I have tried everything suggested online, short of wiping the ipad and beginning all over. I notice many people have raised this issue over the years, but no solution!

As we age, our skin loses collagen - and this in turn leads to loss of elasticity and the ability to naturally retain moisture. This will inevitably impact ridge detail (i.e., our fingerprints) 🙂
Due to my advanced age, my fingerprint isn't strong enough to use as ID. If you have trouble with your fingerprint ID, you can use your numerical passcode as I do.
Yes, I'm pretty old too (84). But then how come it responds perfectly well for 24-48 hours after I register the print? My fingerprint hasn't changed in that period of time!!
I can't explain that, I'm older than you. My fingerprints are very weak and do not work on my phone or the iPad. They might have worked once or twice, but certainly not reliably.
