Security scam

I went on Knowledge Burrow about the need for an audible app when a pop up recommended i download a vpn app. I was on DuckDuckGo and I immediately closed the window and after a second attempt I closed and cleared the data.

I didn’t download anything and it looked sort of legit but still it didn’t seem right. Apple contacts me directly for a security update. In fact I just got one. Maybe this is an attempt to get around the latest update?

I have an XR but am considering a 14. Also a new iPad.

Is there any information on this?

iPhone XR, iOS 16

Thanks. This one bothered me bc it had a legit looking apple icon on it.

I'm getting a lot of texts about a CC7 phone which appears to be real but not clicking on it. This one is persistent. I will probably report it to the FCC and/or my Congressional representative. I don't see why this has to my problem to solve (in a perfect world). No my card was not charged. If it were charged I would complain in about 10 seconds.

Just got a reply from waheed and no it was not at all helpful. It's a blatant ad for amazon digital tools and not exactly specified about what how much or how this is relevant. I already have antivirus. That doesn't protect me from getting annoying scam texts. I don't see how buying a duplicate service from amazon would help. I am not going to give this website any information. Further it looks like a service for businesses not individuals.

thank you. I really don't see why this has to be left to individuals to solve scams.

But there was a really entertaining YouTube video where I watched someone who had clearly done his homework, call out the scammer and their location (India), who they were/are and watching them all freak out. It was the best entertainment I had all week. I sent the link to my dad. Sadly I don't think I have it anymore.
