I agree with Ronmanster. Anytime I am asked to update a password or passcode, I check to ensure the request is legit. Just because you have multiple devices asking you to do this does not mean it isn't a major security issue. I find it strange that I can find nothing from Apple in Support stating that this is legitimate.
