typing euro symbol iPad Pro

On the iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard, I cannot type the Euro symbol using the existing established procedure, as Option-Shift-2 simply produces “2”.

I found a solution and wanted to help the community here (it doesn’t let me comment on old threads).

  1. The problem is specific to Google Docs. In Apple Notes, the Option-Shift-2 works fine, which is why the Apple support people here don’t seem to understand the problem.
  2. In Google Docs, you need to press Globe+Option+Shift+2. Then it works! I discovered this by frustration, trial and error. It is definitely a Google problem and they have made their apps nonstandard in this regard.
