How can I separate my Apple and Apple TV credentials?

I have the Apple TV app on one TV and the Apple TV device on another. I travel a lot and for whatever reason they get logged out and the only way for my family to login is for me to provide my Apple credentials which means access to everything. How can I separate these credentials so logging into the TV doesn’t mean sharing my iCloud credentials?

Hi MC1414,

It sounds like you may want to setup Family Sharing so that everyone can use their own Apple ID to access household purchases. Here's how to start a group from an iPhone:

"On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap Family Sharing, then tap Set Up Your Family.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your family and invite your family members."

You can read more information about this feature in the full resource here: Set up Family Sharing

We hope this helps.

Take care.

Consider a more optimal situation where the account of one of the family members is the primary account on Apple TV, and your account is secondary (for day-to-day usage). Then they can manage their own stuff when you are away, and they can log in and out as they see fit without bothering you. And when you’re using it, you can easily switch accounts.

You’ll need more than one account to make a separation.

Through Family Sharing, you can share certain subscriptions, and optionally purchases, within a small group of users with different accounts.

Support for Apple Family Sharing from third party content providers is a mixed bag. Some do, some don’t. It depends on the service and where you started the subscription.
