i reset my airpods since i got a replacement airpod recently, and tried to connect to my phone (iphone 13). everything here is saying to wait until the light flashes white, or amber and then white, but mine never flashes white no matter how long i wait. any reason as to why, or should i just be more patient?

If you are holding the button on the back of the AirPods case for longer than 10 seconds without seeing any white light start flashing on the front of the case, then the problem is not that you are not holding the button long enough.
These are Apple's instructions for setting up your replacement AirPod (I know you probably tried most of these steps, just make sure...):
Set up your replacement AirPods or charging case - Apple Support
If none of these steps work, then try some of these troubleshooting steps:
If your AirPods won't connect - Apple Support
And if you still can't connect, then reset your AirPods.
