iMac Pro Supposed to be fast, but lags constantly running Illustrator

I can't for the life of me figure out how this muscle-bound iMac Pro in pristine condition with overpowered specs - fully up-to-date - could possibly be lagging while trying to edit vector files in illustrator.

Ventura 13.1 / 3.2 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon W / 32 GB 2666 MHz DDR4

I have a 24" iMac M1 with 8GB of RAM, and it was lagging in Illustrator too often as well. So I bought an iMac Pro - with plenty of power and then some -- and it still is even worse than the M1. Side-by-side, literally sitting on the same work table, the M1 is a much smoother experience, opens apps and files quicker and generally just feels more responsive and cleaner -- is much nicer to look at even and is much easier on the eyes, which is surprising. But it still has been costing me time and often will bog down and I'll have to quit out of stuff and restart it. I thought the iMac Pro would solve this. In some ways it has -- but in other ways it's worse.

It ends up costing me hours of my workday waiting for things to catch up as the progress wheel spins and it's driving me insane. I've tried all the tricks I've found and read about like fine-tuning my Illustrator performance and file management settings, cleaning up SSD storage space and clutter, minimizing startup items... everything is clean and configured perfectly as far as I can tell. How is this so common that it's so hard to get a machine that just eats through this kind of work effortlessly with no lag??? Thoughts anyone?

I figured this out, guys.

When I bought the iMac Pro it was a fresh OS install with nothing on it.

I used Migration Assistant to pull over some basic settings from my existing M1 iMac 24" machine.

I also opted, foolishly, to migrate my apps over.

I didn't even think about the fact that the versions of my apps like Adobe Illustrator, etc., were formatted for compatibility with the M1 chip, not the Intel Xeon that the iMac Pro has.

So - I uninstalled all of Adobe Creative Cloud, and then restarted the computer, and re-installed apps like Illustrator and Photoshop, and there's a dramatic difference in speed and performance now that appears to be possibly even faster than the M1 iMac -- utilizing the 32GB of RAM etc..

So - I hope this helps someone out there with the same issue. Thanks for your help all the same.

Thank you @den.thed

Should I be shutting down email or my browser while working in Illustrator? That still seems unusual that this machine wouldn't be able to churn through anything I have open no problem.
