This involves apple mail. When I delete an email it does not go to trash, it disappears and my trash file is always empty. When I delete an email in error I can never retrieve it again.

Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Your Account>Mailbox Behaviors, when is Trash Mailbox set to empty.
Instead of Delete, what happens if you move it to the Trash?
deleted email disappear, trash is always empty
