Apple ipod touch 6th gen

I have had a ipod left to me which i can not get in to as i dont have the passcode or email address of the former owner as he is no longer with us.and i dont want to scrap it as it's clean.

any help on how to restore it to new.

If you forgot your iPod touch passcode - Apple Support

But a sixth generation iPod is probably also locked with Activation Lock, an anti-theft feature. If so you will have to do the following, otherwise you will not be able to use the iPod.:  How to request access to a deceased family member's Apple account - Apple Support
