Our new HomePod shows up in our phone audio devices when we make calls on our iPhones. Is there a way to stop this from happening?
We'll be returning the HomePod by the end of the week if there isn't.

No you can’t remove that option. If you do have a preferred way of using your audio, you can set it to stick to one as the default, still allowing you to change it to suit your needs: Route and automatically answer calls on iPhone - Apple Support This method works for incoming and outgoing calls. (The HomePod will still be there to use as an option)
