Apple TV 4K streaming on demand sports via the Discovery Plus app, I get the following error: “coremediaerrordomain.1718449215”

Try this for any misbehaving app:

1. Force-quit the app, then relaunch and try again.
2. If the issue persists, force-quit the app, restart the device, then relaunch and try again.
3. If the issue still persists, delete the app, re-download and try again.

1. A next step would be to contact the app developers, as their app is giving an error.
2. On the other hand, the error is specific to apps on the Apple platforms, so maybe Apple Support is able to shed some light on what is going wrong, and how to tell that to the devs. Apple won’t be able to fix app issues, though, as that is with Discovery+.

Did you ever get this sorted? I’m having the same problem trying to watch World Superbikes. Other media plays fine but on demand re-runs just hang at the discovery ad screen then come up with this error.

I’ve finally managed to resolve this issue, as I was having the same thing. I dropped my Apple TV settings down to 1080p and the discovery plus started playing the on demand content happily.

On the Apple TV go into the settings app, then video and audio, then format and choose one of the 1080p settings - I choose SDR.

I'm getting this too. App works fine on my Smart TV & Nvidia Shield, but not on my AppleTV4K. I've tried the normal uninstall, reboot, reinstall. Sign out, sign in. Unplug for 60 seconds. No luck with ATV4K

I have the same issue but it is also happening on my iPad and iPhone as well as Apple TV. I have raised it with the Discovery+ product team via a friend end who works there but at the moment there is no fix or timeframe for a fix.

As per some of the other replies below. I also tested changing my AppleTV video settings. I usually have it on 4K HDR and discovery+ never wanted to know when it came to on demand sports playback.

however drop the settings to 1080p HDR and everything appears to work fine.

I know it’s a bit faffy having to change your settings but it’s a workaround that does appear to work.

It’s resolution issue and It’s the 3 second discovery plus ident/ad that’s causing the issue. I’ve found that if you start the on demand media in 1080 to get past the stall we were seeing in the 3 second ident I’ve been able to go back to the settings and change it back to 4k HDR after 5seconds into the programme and the media plays fine and is also upscaled correctly. Apple and discovery really need to sort this.

I let Discovery plus in the UK know about it via their twitter support account and I've noticed that on some recent streams the 3 second indent is no longer injected into the on demand media stream at the beginning. Looks like they've quietly corrected the issue so there's no need to downscale the resolution from 4K to 1080P to get access to a Eurosport catch-up stream.

Thank you for the solution. This has been doing my nut in. Everytime I use the app to watch Cycling I run into this problem. Never seen this issue in any other streaming platform’s app.
