Album art displays incorrectly

I recently purchased an iPhone 13, currently running IOS 16.2. After I had added some new music and completed a backup and sync, the phone now displays random album art with whatever is playing. I tried re-syncing, but to no effect. Is there a fix for this? It was working normally prior to the sync.

iPhone 13, iOS 16

Hello pentangle,

Does the album art appear correctly on the iMac you use to sync to your iPhone?

If it does, there might be an issue with just the Music app itself on your iPhone. Since we know it is still syncing the item, you can remove the app and reinstall it again which might refresh the app and the sync process to force the album art to sync with them: Remove apps from iPhone - Apple Support

If it doesn't, you would need to see about reimport the songs again as they might be having issues which can be resolved by reimporting them.

If you still have issues, the best thing to do is reach out to Apple directly as they will be able to have a deeper look into this concern: Get Support

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

I do not subscribe to either service, the songs were synced from my iMac to the phone. The music came from a variety of sources, iTunes, actual CD's, from a free service through my local library. The issue started after I updated to IOS 16.2, artwork displayed normally before that. I've tried restarting the iPhone (13), resyncing the phone from my M1 iMad, still no luck.

Hey pentangle,

You can find information on syncing music from a computer to iPhone here: Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer - Apple Support

For further assistance, you may want to provide additional information about the situation.

Are you an Apple Music or iTunes Match Subscriber?

Are you syncing the songs from a Mac or a PC to your iPhone?

Are these songs that you've downloaded from Apple Music, purchased from iTunes, or synced from other sources?

Do you have any other devices with the same songs? If so do the correct album artworks show there?

Thanks!
