I have my watch set to vibrate, but my phone is not muted by the switch on the side; I thought in the past that as long as I'm wearing my watch the phone would not ring no matter if my phone was on silent or not. Am I mistaken?
Is there a way, without always switching my phone to silent, to set it so it just doesn't ring if I'm wearing the watch? Thanks.

If you get a call, the phone will ring. Other notifications will only be presented on the watch, but the phone always rings unless you have it muted.
