Hi justin_900,
Thank you for your response and apologies for the delay.
I checked the article "Wake and unlock IPhone", but it does not seem to cover my issue. Due to the frequency of my IPhone SE second generation unlocking in my coat and pants pockets, I immediately disabled the raise to wake feature after purchasing my IPhone 14 Pro, to avoid additional problems. I have a passcode set on my phone to avoid it accessing apps when the screen is accidentally activated. I also consciously double check that my phone is locked before putting it in my pocket, since I have had this issue so often. While there may be times that I forget this check, I have had it unlock before even though I ensured it was locked properly.
Mostly, it just accesses my camera and drains the battery by taking videos, which is something it doesn't need to be unlock to do, however, it has unlocked entirely on occasion and made phones calls to my contacts and started Facebook messenger chats. I find this odd since it shouldn't be able to unlock without my passcode or face.
It seems like it registers my face ID before I lock it (i.e. if I check the time and then press the side button to lock it again) and still applies my face ID unlock when the side button accidentally gets tapped again too soon, even though I've turned off the screen in between. Is it possible that the face ID unlocks the phone for a short time even if it is relocked using the side button? Alternatively, is it possible the side button lock is not always locking the phone immediately?
I just tested the following steps and my phone remained unlocked without the lock symbol appearing and access to my apps when swiping on 1 out of the 3 tries:
- Pressed the side button to turn on the screen
- Unlocked my phone with face ID
- Pressed the side button again to lock
- Tilted the phone away from my face to avoid face ID
- Pressed the side button to turn on the screen
- Verified the lock symbol was shown on the screen
- Swiped up to test app access
*Side note: I have had to restart my phone several times for unrelated reasons and it has not made any noticeable difference.
