What does the Music App do when you slect "Organize Library" from the file menu?
I think it may help some issues I have (things in odd places, nothing critical) but I'd hate for it to cause more problems as I have a LOT of original unreleased music in there.

The consolidate files option brings in copies of any files outside the media folder into the media folder. The rearrange files option adds in an extra Music subfolder in between the media folder and the artist folders. See Managing your Mac media libraries - Apple Community for general advice.
