If you have Apple ID set up on the Mac, go to the question mark then click on “If you forgot your password you can…
…reset it with your Apple ID”
enter your Apple ID credentials then click continue then follow through the steps.
If this doesn’t work you may need to erase your Mac then restore with Time Machine backup. Reply if you need to do this.
