iMac 2017 running slow with Ventura 13.0.1

Hi, I just purchased a used 2017, Retina 4k, 21.5-inch iMac and installed Ventura 13.0.1 on it. It is running very slow. I mean very very slow. Like 3 or 486 slow. Is there a limit to what OS I can use on it? If so, which one and if not that any known causes and or remedies? Thanks P
