Iphone Message APP Slow and unresponsive

Just to clarify, is the issue only within Messages or have you noticed any slow behavior anywhere else on the iPhone? Additionally, we'd like to double check the battery health as that can sometimes cause misbehaviors. Under Settings > Battery > Battery Health, what does it show for maximum capacity? And are there any messages?

The badge notification is the red dot on the Messages icon with a number inside that shows unread messages. You indicated that this is showing incorrectly in the last part of your previous message: "Also noticed that its showing 40 unread messages even though I have deleted all messages and currently messages has only 3 messages."

Since this is occurring as well as the issue with the performance of the Messages app, reaching out to Apple Support would still be the next step we would recommend. They would be the best suited to investigate what's happening.
