Copy Paste Disaster in Apple Notes

I had a checklist of to-do items in Notes, and wanted to copy that to a new note, then delete the old one.

I used ⌘C to copy and ⌘C+X to paste

The text that arrived and got pasted was just jibberish, like the last line of the actual list.

However, the full text was apparently succesfully cut from the original note. Then lost in the ether.

Since I switched between the two notes, there is no way to undo it anymore (⌘Z). The original note is empty.

So now I have LOST MY ENTIRE TEXT. A HUGE NOTE FROM SEVERAL CALLS WITH A CLIENT.

I'm beyond frustrated how that can happen.

1.) How can such a simple rudimentary command as COPY-PASTE become such an issue for a system?

(No my memory was not clogged. I just started the machine and there's 53GB of RAM up for grabs)

2.) If Notes are stored in iCloud, why is there no version history to go back to? (at least covering one previous version, standard functionality in proper cloud storage services)

I find it shocking once again how much time Apple spends on re-designing interfaces, and adding layers to a "user experience", yet so little effort to make the most basic workflow actions reliable and effective.

Please provide me with a solution how to recover the content of my client note from the ether of iOS.

The follow command " and ⌘C+X ) issued on 3 Apple Machines I use all running Ventura 13.2.1 and a forth running Big Sierra 1013.6 produces - No Actions at all

Go figure

As others have mentioned, " Command C " will copy and " Command V " Paste

Has the user attempted and check in the Deleted Folder of Notes to recover any deleted Notes ?

Mac keyboard shortcuts - Apple Support

I have done Search in that Apple Document for " ⌘V+X " and have yet to find that specific Keyboard Combination

As for " Deleted notes doesnt help because the note itself was not deleted. Just the text in it. "
