Apple Watch Lock Screen During Running

What's the best way to lock an Apple Watch during a run?

Currently when I run (it's winter), screens start flipping, segments get triggered, etc.... This is really annoying.

It doesn't appear that Apple did any product testing with people that wear jackets or gloves.

So far my Apple Series 7 Watch has been a poor device for running. I've also had it magically stop my runs as well.

The recommended way is to start acworkout. swipe the workout face as if to end the session and tap the Water Lock.

Only pressing the crown for some seconds will release it.

I run 3 times a week with SE 2022 and have never experienced stopped sessions unless auto pause is on and/or if taking a long break. Loise strap can pause the workout.

This is working using the water lock. Many thanks for the recommendation.

The only downside is when triggering Splits during my run, I have to unlock first, then trigger the split, then re-lock. This is a bit of a pain when running, especially faster splits. Running watches like Garmin Forerunners with buttons are much easier to trigger splits since you just have to tap a side button.

I did find when running and sweating, hair from my arm triggers the Apple Watch screen and may be why my runs get stopped or splits magically get triggered.
