Free up space on ipad mini for notes by removing photo and mail apps from ipad but keep them on phone

I am wanting to use my ipad mini as a note pad and so I don’t need the mail or photo apps on the ipad mini as both have a ton of data.

is there a way to keep these apps off of the ipad mini but still have them available for my phone and imac and air laptop?

I have tried to remove them from home screen but keep them in my library.

but it seems like they are still hogging memory😳

Consider disabling iCloud Photos - and removing any configured email accounts from the iPad mini. Assuming that the iPad has iPadOS16 or earlier installed…

iCloud Photos:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud > Photos >

  • iCloud Photos - set to OFF
  • My Photo Stream - set to OFF
  • Shared Albums - set to OFF

Once disabled, you can delete any photos from your locally stored Photo Library without affecting your other devices.

Apple iCloud Mail:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud Mail - set to OFF

For each non-Apple email account:

Settings > Mail > Accounts > [Mail Account] Delete Account

Removing Mail from the iPad will only remove local copies of email.
