Tracking only distance on an Apple watch

I want to use my Apple watch to track my distance but not my time as I often stop to see the views and get annoying messages asking if I’m done with my walk. Can I turn off time tracking while still tracking distance?

As the workout continues to time you, removing the annoying reminders will not stop the clock.

You might want to do what I do and swipe the workout left to right and tap Pause while you view the scene, then resume when you resume.

I have also requested Appl to add Auto Pause to Outdoor Walk and Hike like it has on Outdoor Run. You coukd do that also...

Or you could use outdoor run with auto pause turned on - depends how fast you walk.
