Independent app volume control in iOS for iPhone..

I enjoy listening to audiobooks while playing games on my iPhone but am constantly having problems with the music (mainly from ads) blasting at a painful level. I mute the games internally but this doesn’t carry over to the ads. Is there any setting or app that I can get that will allow me to adjust the volume on an app by app basis including any ads spawned by that app? If not can anyone suggest a way to mute or at least reduce the volume of these horribly invasive ads?

I’ll be sure to buy a Samsung for my next smart phone if they don’t include this in an update some time soon. This is some basic level stuff, get it together Apple.

I have the same issue. When I try to lower or raise the volume by pressing the button, I only see the “Ringer” drop down text on the screen and corresponding volume reduction for the ring volume. I do not want to change ringer volume. If I press the the “Ringer” drop-down it does nothing. I expect it to let me choose to change app or media volume. Why does Android have this but iPhone doesn’t?

I have a similar issue. I enjoy listening to podcasts and sometimes have to turn the volume way up because some podcasts don’t have great sound. Then my Ring camera notification goes off and nearly deafens me. It’s 2024. Isn’t there a way to adjust volume on each app? All these constant updates yet they don’t fix issues for everyday users.

I have iOS 18 and unfortunately Im also gonna move to Samsung my next phone if it doesn’t get added in the next update (ios 18.1 not 19 not waiting that long). When Im playing a game with a friend my games noise is interfering with the person Im calling with. I need to keep the noise of the game on cuz it helps me knowing whats going on in the game. I do feel like Android gives too much control over this and Apple being Apple they want to keep things simple. So I suggest having a toggle for media noise, a toggle for app noise and a main toggle. Media will only reduce noise on the current media thats played. Things like music and videos that use the player API (not sure how the api called but basically the one that also works with dynamic island and picture in picture). The app sound will only work on app individual so you cant change the volume of apps that are open in the background. Holding the sound slider in control center will reveal an additional media slider on the right and app slider on the left. If the main slider is changed it will also affect the other sliders noise level unless this option is turned off in settings. This means that if that option is off it will only change the noise level of everything except for media if it has a different noise level and if the app that is playing audio has a different noise level.

Go to Settings > Sound & Haptics > Change with Buttons. Shut this off and adjust your ring tone and alert volume to anything you want. The buttons will only change the volume of the podcast or any other media that you are listening to.

Each app has the capability to have their own independent volume control. The games I play all have their own volume level. Apple Music, Podcasts, GarageBand, and Apple TV all have their own volume levels that are saved between uses. The sound level in those apps don't affect ringer volume level. It is not that difficult for the app developer to include a volume setting in their app and save that value. Send them feedback.

I have downloaded 2 games that did not have an independent volume control and the ads played at full volume, but I just deleted them. I probably should have sent them feedback or wrote a review of the app in the store, but there are so many others that do maintain independent volume control, I didn't bother.
