My iMac needed a new update, when it was finished, it asked me to restart the computer. So I did. Now the Apple logo keeps popping up on my screen and then disappears and shows up again. If I shut it down, when I turn it back on it keeps doing that.

Updates can take awhile to complete and go to the desktop. Best bet is to stop interferring and wait until the update process has completed.

Some upgrades will restart 7 times, as den.thed says, let it finish.
And when it is finished it will restart itself.
