Cannot sign in to Apple TV app on Fire TV Stick

I was watching apple tv with no problem, then at some point I was signed out within the app.

I tried to sign back in but the signin-screen just hung. I cleard the cache, force-stopped and restarted the app

I restarted the fire TV stick

I tried to create an app-specific password. Did not work.

I was able to sign into Apple TV with my browser, so it is not a number-of-devices issue.

Another odd thing is that the app makes me sign in with the remote, it does not aoffer me the QR code and option to sign in on the browser as it did when i first set up the account.

very annoying.

Don't try to fix this on your own. It has nothing to do with you.

Apple is starting to roll out the fixes now.

All you can do is wait.

Things I tried that did not resolve this issue:

Clear Apple TV app cache
Clear Apple TV data
Uninstall App & then download fresh copy (took an inordinately long time to download to the stick)

After each of the above steps: rebooted Fire Stick, went into Apple TV app, tried logging in, no dice, error msg each time.

Googled error msg & code, no useful search results.

Over an hour of this incredibly annoying b.s. later: gave up.

If this indeed a systemwide issue, maybe Apple could let users know? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller!?

Massive bug just hit everyone at the same time. I'm sure Apple is working on it.

I just went up to my other TV with a fire stick, and I had no problem watching apple tv there. So if it was a network thing, appears to have passed, fingers crossed?
