Generally, all you have to do is select *all* the titles you want to replace and double click the replacement title in the Title Browser. The title templates will be changed in the storyline, but the texts should remain the same.

Whether or not this works to your expectation will depend on things like: matching text objects. For example, if you're replacing a Basic Title with one of the lower thirds that have two separate text objects, only one of the text objects will change with respect to the existing Title's text.

This first example has the Basic Title in the storyline and it is replaced by a custom title when selecting all the Basic Titles and double clicking the custom title:

and this example shows what happens when the text object elements don't exactly match:

The "count" is in place, but the Description has no corresponding text to replace.

There may be other "incongruities" that may cause the technique to fail. [Two different text object types - plain text vs. paragraph text/path/scroll... etc...]

This is not guaranteed! It will depend on the types of titles being "exchanged".

BTW - GIFs are not a really good idea if you're trying to show a problem you're having. Full screen captures are better.

There are various places you can upload them to, then just place a link (although moderators might delete them as well.) You can generally use a YouTube channel — publish videos as "unlisted" to keep them from becoming publicly accessible (and this should also help keep advertising out of the videos — this might keep any links from being deleted [not exactly sure about that].)

I really don't know. I know a lot of people complain about links being deleted by moderators. It might have something to do with your participation level [plus other factors.] Different levels grant different (more as you go up) privileges. I generally do not have any trouble with youtube links to my channel — as long as their content is within the "rules" for the forum.

I have same question but different problem. I made 1200 "essential-basic" titles on an hour timeline to make visual subtitles over audio. But I want to replace all the titles with just a Basic Title - zero effects on it. But there is no plain basic title in the tile menu - it's only in the Edit > Connect Basic Title.

Only having to do this because Final Cut seems to be treating my 1200 titles as 1200 effects and refuses to render the movie. Any ideas?
