Do you perhaps mean "obsolete"? Why do you think they would become unusable in June? What do you think is happening in June?

Until you stop being able to use them for what you need to do, there is no reason to replace them. Eventually, you will be unable to update them to new versions of iOS or iPadOS and fewer and fewer apps will work. But that usually takes a couple of years after you can't update them anymore. The built-in apps will still continue to work.

I read that IPhone 8 Plus and my I pad would not be able to download any upgrades

While historically, Apple has announced new versions of iOS and iPadOS in June, the new versions have generally not been available until September. So, regardless of what Apple does in June, it won't have any immediate effect on your devices.

And guess what? Nothing will change on your devices when the new versions come out. They will keep working exactly the same way they do now.

Eventually, yes, it will be difficult to get apps that support the older OS but that doesn't happen suddenly. Should you start saving up for a new iPhone and a new iPad? Sure. Do you need to panic? Absolutely not.

The only consideration I can think of is if you buy the next new Apple Watch in the fall which will probably be series 9 and IF the new Watch which may be OS 10 is incompatible with iOS 16.

All speculation, as is the report that iphone 8 may not support iOS17 because it still might.

My iphone 6S is working fine and is secure.
