2022 M2 Macbook pro does not recognise a second external display as a separate screen.

My 2022 M2 Macbook pro does not recognise a second external display as a separate screen. At best, It will recognise the two screens as one extended display. Have changed adapters, cables etc. The connectors that I am using work on a friend's M1 Macbook. Local apple support store says M2s cannot support more than 1 screen? Is there a way to fox this?

as Malcolm Mayfield says

If you need more hardware-accelerated displays than the built-in and one external display, and an un-accelerated iPad if desired, you probably need a more capable computer.

If you are only doing program listings, spreadsheets, stock quotes and other slow to change data, there are some other solutions, but they require you to make some strong compromises.
