All the sound settings are at the max.
I notice very often that the loudness varies when listening to spoken words.
Some are hard to understanding at all. Then some are normal, even too loud and have to be turned down with F11 key.

F12 should not always be maxed out.
Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.

I can see that this would be a problem. However, the imac I had before the ventura always had plenty of black areas on key F12 in order to increase when neccessary. Now the F12 key is maxed out always.
It might be useful to mention what is the source of the spoken words.

I see. If you are referring to streaming videos, different sites can have different volume levels. Just like TV channels.
I'm not even able to go into the Safe Mode! Tried several times. Unable to click "Continue in Safe Mode" because there is nothing to click.
Once you select your hard drive, press and hold the shift key. "Continue in Safe Mode" will appear under the drive icon.
Ok, I did it. But it only says "Continue", nothing about safe mode.
Well, the way mine works and I expect others is, once I select the drive, it displays "Continue", and when you press the shift key as I said. it displays "Continue in Safe Mode".
When I press "continue" while still holding the shift key, I get a black screen. How long must I hold the shift key before the Safe Mode kicks in?
You don't press the shift key until you see "Continue".
