Same thing happened to me. Recently updated to 17.1.2 and was told by Apple I would have to pay an out of warranty $400 to replace the screen. Phone has no physical damage, no water damage, sent a text message, then the entire screen went green. Now it occasionally works but it's filled with lines and it flickers. Very frustrated with Apple in general.

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your iPhone 13 Pro Max. A green screen and damage after a software update does sound unusual. If customer service is not providing assistance, you might consider seeking a second opinion from an authorized repair center or Apple Store to get a more thorough evaluation of the issue. It's essential to have the problem properly diagnosed to determine the cause and potential solutions.

Same thing thing happened to me. Brand new phone! Happened after an update. Opened WhatsApp and the strobe light show kicked off. Apple of course wanted to make money out of THEIR error saying I damaged my screen and it needs to be replaced… for an arm and a leg. I put my phone in the freezer for 10 minutes because I figured it could just be an overheating issue because my phone felt warmer than usual. Worked! Saved myself £249. Thanks Apple (not!).

You're not alone. This is intentional. There isn't much incentive for people to buy new products when their older ones work great. This is engineered to look like physical screen damage. The same exact thing happened to my iphone 14 pro and my girlfriends iphone 14 pro max within the same week after an update. I actually ended up disassembling my phone and confirming this by swapping in a known good display. The "screen damage" is actually being emulated lol.

As of writing this July, im convinced theyre starting the same thing with the apple watches. Just did the newest update to my Watch SE 1st gen and it killed it. Its funny cause the screen works fine for the boot logo.
