I have an application that will not delete

I keep getting a random popup on my Late 2020 Mac mini with T1 regarding malware. I know that it is a scam as it wants me to call a number...blah blah. I'm no fool! I've gone through my applications and I find a chess.app that is dates in April 2023. I do not play games and know that I didn't download it. In trying to delete it, there is no way to get rid of it. Nothing happens when I try to rename it, drag it to the trash, use terminal to get rid of it...NADA. I've opened the package to see what's there...nothing is deletable. I opened the Mini in safe mode...still no way to get rid of it. Activity monitor doesn't show it's running but I'm still very suspicious. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
