Two factor ID for external sources is not working
I can not receive text messages for two factor authentication from any external sources, ie. bank, google, etc.

Those are usually sent as SMS text messages. You must have a cellular voice network connection to receive SMS. You need to make sure the source has your correct mobile number. Beyond that you need to work with your carrier’s tech support.
