Is it not okay to close background apps?

it's ok, but when they are in the background they are suspended so they do not use system memory, cpu or battery

so fully closing them actually use more battery than just leaving them alone, but it does not harm the device or anything

For what it's worth.......Apple does not recommend closing an app unless you are having problems with the app.
