How do I know which Apple password is being requested; Apple ID, device access, community etc

Apple says " one account for everything you do with Apple" I thought my Apple ID Password would be for everything Apple too, but not so. I have different access passwords for each of my devices - Mac27ios12.6.4; iPhone 13 mini; Mac air, Apple community, . All requests merely have 'Password' field and nothing indicates which password. I don't know if I entered a password incorrectly or need to try a different password. And if I put it in the vault I would have to have another password. Aargh

If you're trying to access something on Apple's servers, use the Apple ID password. The ones stored for accounts on the individual units can be different.
