Purchased movie won’t play

I purchased the movie trolls sometime ago and all of a sudden today, I can’t play it. On my Vizio tv from the appletv app is where I stream from. My iphones and iPads will play the movie but my tv will not now. It keeps giving me an error the content is not available, this type of content is not currently compatible on your device. To play, try again using an apple device…why all of a sudden the error? Why only on this movie?

The Apple TV app on any supported device should support all the content that is selectable through it.

  1. Verify that your TV software and/or streaming device software are up-to-date. If a newer version is available, then older versions may no longer be supported for this app and its content.
  2. Try a cold restart of the TV and/or streaming device.
  3. Else please contact the iTunes Store staff for issues with specific purchased movies.

Discussion I had with Apple support was video content on Apple TV (no subscription) requires downloading content. Content wouldn't appear in Apple TV until after download.

Saw related problem with iTunes. Non-Downloaded video content would have blurry area in lower part of screen. Some video's would stop playing.

Going to need to check all in my video library. So far it looks like you have to download if you want to watch w/o a subscription. Need to buy monthly subscription if you want old iTunes behavior.

Don't disagree with Apple on this. They aren't a streaming service.

I'm encountering a similar issue...

I purchased a movie via the iTunes store last night and I'm now trying to watch the commentary track of the movie from the 'iTunes EXTRAS' bonus content that came along with the movie.

When I try to watch on my iPhone 8, the video immediately freezes while the audio still plays.

When I try to watch on my PC via iTunes, the video doesn't load - at all!

And I can't even find how to access the iTunes EXTRAS for the movie on my iPhone 12 mini.

😭😠
